Covering 10 hectares, this compound is one of the world's largest and comprehensive hospitals devoted to orthopedic surgery, traumatology, reconstructive and rehabilitating surgery of the skeletal system, a home to the Iberian American School of Orthopedics and Traumatology.
The center is run by Prof. Rodrigo Alvarez Cambras, a celebrated Cuban scientist who has contributed all his experience and expertise. Together with his multidisciplinary team of high-level scientists, the center guarantees a quick and efficient recovery for a number of disorders and injuries.
The compound is also a national and international reference center, its facilities are home to the Iberian American School of Orthopedics and Traumatology. In all, the 30-year-old compound has attended thousands of patients who come to it every year to benefit from its numerous services. It offers 677 beds for Cuban patients of all ages, plus a special section exclusively reserved for treating foreigners.
Equipped with the most advanced surgical techniques and a multidisciplinary team of high ethical and scientific level who put their vast experience at the beck and call of patients there, the compound also counts on three state-of-the-art factories for the making of orthopedic equipment and devices, especially prostheses and ortheses.
Just a few miles from the city's downtown area, the center has what it takes to make patients have a nice stay in Cuba. The compound plans and executes tours to a number of sightseeing locations, like beaches, city landmarks, nightclubs and spots reserved for the practice of ecological tourism.
